Retinal Detachment
Definition
Retinal detachment is a condition in which the retina slips out from the underlying supportive tissue. Retina is the innermost layer of the eye which reacts to light and forms images.
Symptoms of Retinal Detachment
The following are some of the symptoms of Retinal Detachment :
The patient sees floaters, black or red spots , cobwebs or specks or light flashes or a curtain over the field of vision, heaviness in the eye, a dense shadow that moves from the peripheral vision to central vision, straight lines appearing curved
Risk Factors:
1. Aging
2. Injury to the eye
3. Injury to the head
4. Family history of Retinal Detachment
5. Myopia of long standing
6. Other eye diseases like uveitis
7. Post cataract surgery
8. Diabetic Retinopathy
9. Sickle Cell Disease
Homeopathic treatment for Retinal Detachment
Laser Surgery or freeze treatment known as cryopexy is used to treat retinal detachment. Surgical results are best if the macula (a point in the retina where the light is concentrated and images are formed) is not affected.
Homeopathy
It is been shown that retinal hemorrhage and early detachment cases responds very nicely as there will be immediate stoppage of bleeding and prevention of further detachment. Even this stops neovascularisation which are fragile and tends to bleed easily. Thus it stops the recurrence of bleeding also.
